High Quality Music and Sound Packs need OpenAL to be already installed.
That's why I have inculded OpenAL32 Installer for Windows v2.0.6 [April 23, 2008]
Also Dukonnector requires .Net Framework 2.0 or higher to be already installed. But to be sure that it will work without problems, please install at least .Net Framework 3.0.
I highly recommend you to play "Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition" with DukePlus enhancer.
You can also try to play with the High Quality Sound Pack (HQSP) enabled.
If EDuke32 crashes at first run, just run it again.

You can always create a shortcut to desktop of your favorite batch file. Also, an easy way to launch the batch files is by using PlayDuke. At the upper left corner of PlayDuke's window, click on the icon and choose "Play Batch File", then select the batch file you want.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
High Quality Music and Sound packs are only supported for "Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition" and Duke It Out In D.C. addon.
High Resolution Pack in not supported by Duke Xtreme addon, NAM, WWII GI, The Christmas Project mod, Altair mod, Nuclear Showdown mod, Alien Versus Predator TC, Oblivion 3D TC, The Gate TC, Starship Troopers TC, Platoon TC, Duke Nukem 3D LAYRE TC, Secrets of the Acropolis TC, FM2X, Outpost X, Clear the Coast (SP map), Bedrone map, Vacation Cove Episode and WGRealms Episode.
High Quality Music packs are also available for "Duke It Out In D.C.", "Duke: Nuclear Winter" and "Duke Caribbean: Life's A Beach", they are included in their HRP packs.
There are also three alternate music packs for "Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition", the official EDuke32 Music Pack and the unofficial Saturn and PSX Music Packs. But the best is the official EDuke32 Music Pack, which is also the default option unless specified otherwise.
For the above TCs/MODs that do not support the High Resolution Pack it is better to disable texture caching.
IMPORTANT FAQ:
Q: I have the latest OpenAL32 and DirectX, but EDuke32 keep crashing at startup. Why?
A: Do you have DEP (Data Execution Prevention) disabled? You should.
Go to Windows System Properties --> Advanced --> Performance Options --> Data Execution Prevention --> Turn on DEP for essential Windows Programs and services only.
In Vista you may also need to disable UAC, even if you run EDuke32 as administrator.
Q: I'm using DukePlus or SD_Duke mod, but I see white dots/boxes when I shoot the enemies, instead of blood.
A: Hires Texture Quality should be set to max, else you will have such visual problems.
Go to EDuke32 Options --> Video Setup --> Renderer Setup --> Hires Texture Quality (set it to max)
The SD_Duke mod is being used in: "Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition", "Duke It Out In D.C.", "Duke!ZONE 2", "Moonbase Accident episode", "The dream map", "Duke is 10 Episode", "Arctic Alert map".
In the Renderer Setup menu you can also try to enable Anisotropic Filtering (2x-16x) for improved image quality.
In the Video Setup menu you can also enable Bilinear or Trilinear Filtering. This improves the image quality for MODs/TCs that do not support the High Resolution Pack.
It is obvious that setting Hires Texture Quality to max and enabling Anisotropic Filtering will have a performance hit as result.
Here is a minor tip on how to unpack this pack:
First, install WinRAR or any other archiver that supports unpacking rar files. Then, right click on "Duke.Nukem.3D.Atomic.Edition.High.Resolution. v8.8-MasterFaster.part1.rar", keep pressing right mouse button, and drag and drop it to root folder C:\ , then choose "Extract Here". Be careful to not extract it inside any other folder, but just to the root folder of your hard disk, which means to C:\ . This will solve problems and errors during extraction.
When the extraction is completed, a new folder will be created in your hard disk: "C:\Duke.Nukem.3D.Atomic.Edition.High.Resolution.v 8.8-MasterFaster\" . You can rename this folder and move it anywhere you want. Take notice that inside this folder there is another one with the name "dn3d_hrp-23-03-2009" that contains all the files of my release. Do not rename or move any of the contents of the second folder.
Additional Notes:
As I already wrote above, to play a game you have to start it by running it's
corresponding Play...............bat file. I explained it already what are the names
of the games/addons/mods and what are the names of their Play...............bat files
respectively.
Now you would ask: What game can I play? I say: All !!! But you can start with the
"Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition" with SD_Duke mod as this is the original game, that
has the High Resolution Pack, High Quality Music and extra blood/gore effects.
What is the best game/addon/mod ? There isn't. It is a matter of taste! You may like
equally playing "Duke Nukem: Weapon of Mass Destruction" mod and also "Naferia's Reign:
Invasion of the Dark Mistress" mod. It's up to you. Play all of them and/or choose the
one that suites you.
What about the keys? Can you tell me the default keys?
The default keys are:
W --> Forward
S --> Backward
A --> Move left
D --> Move right
Q --> Left kick
E --> Use/open
[ and ] --> Move left/right through inventory
Enter --> Use the specific inventory item
Space --> Jump
Left Ctrl --> Crouch
Left Mouse Button --> Shoot
When you are killed, hit E to restart level. Better use the mouse to look around.
The mods like DukePlus, Nuclear Showdown, "Duke Nukem: Arena", "Duke Nukem: Weapon of
Mass Destruction" and "Naferia's Reign: Invasion of the Dark Mistress" have additional
key configuration for their enhanced features. I suggest you to read their doc/htm/txt
files for help. It is recommended to reconfigure their additional key binds for their
special functions. Also each mod will use its own configuration files, thus conflicts
with other mods will be avoided.
Also, if you encounter visual or gameplay problems while switching through the various
games/mods, you can try to delete their configuration files and/or "textures" and
"textures.cache" files. In some cases you have to configure again their key binds for
their special menus and features.
Troubleshooting:
When you switch through the various TCs/MODs, you may need to delete "textures" and
"textures.cache" files to avoid graphic gliches and other problems.
For the TCs/MODs that do not support the High Resolution Pack it is better to disable texture caching:
Options --> Video Setup --> Renderer Setup --> Cache Textures On Disk --> OFF
Check also IMPORTANT NOTES section above, for more info about which TCs/MODs do not support the High Resolution Pack.
If you still have problems, you may delete all the configuration files (*.cfg) except "tiles.cfg" and "deflists.cfg".
Don't forget to set the Hires Texture Quality to max for DukePlus enhancer or SD_Duke mod. Else you may see white dots/boxes while shooting the enemies, as mentioned in FAQ section.

The EDuke32 Music Pack v2.0 is very close to the original Duke Nukem 3D music. Thats is the reason why it is the default selection.
The EDuke32 Music Pack v1.05 is a nice alternative which is also close to the original music, but with noticeable differences.
Clearing Texture Cache:
As I already said, to avoid graphic gliches and other problems you need sometimes to clear Texture Cache, especially if you play with different MODs/TCs frequently.
You can do that by deleting "textures" and "textures.cache" files or by simply running:
Clear_Texture_Cache.bat
Dukester X needs the Visual Basic 6.0 run-time files to be already installed:

Both are included in "Visual Basic 6 Runtime" folder. If you have .NET Framework 3.0 or higher, you may already got them.
