The parallelization of sub-processes brings decisive time savings to the engineering process. With EPLAN 5.70, connections may be predefined early on in the planning process. The interactive approach to cable handling comprises single wires, connector assignment and the materials used. Once predefined, these cables may be incorporated into the design in various ways, enabling impressive time savings. This means that cable prefabrication can commence parallel to the design process. Bus modules and device connections are quickly connected, saving time during production and final assembly. EPLAN 5.70 automatically compiles evaluations of the assemblies, from which all production-relevant data may be derived.

Time savings with device connection

Integrated, modular automation components help to minimize the work involved in circuit design. As these components fulfill a host of individual functions, extreme care must be devoted to the RC circuit. In the new device connection diagrams, with distributed representation of the devices, all device connections are listed in a clear tabular format. In
this way, accurate production is accelerated. Should an error occur nevertheless, the connection diagrams provide a detailed overview for rapid fault diagnosis, putting an end to machine downtime.

User-friendly navigation

Direct links from the table of contents to the EPLAN documentation ensures perfect navigation and a rapid overview of projects. Operation is based on the same straightforward principles as Office products, so users can get started straight away without the need for lengthy training. Internet access couldn’t be simpler, and is activated directly from within the EPLAN application. Access to service offers, updates and patches on the EPLAN homepage brings users rapidly up-to-date with the latest developments.

PDF output optimized

PDF files up to 75 % smaller can now be generated, for easier distribution and rapid access, including via the Web. With distributed locations, the diagrams available are standardized, to satisfy even the most discerning demands for problem-free, decentralized production. The PDF format also plays a key role in the revision system. Once an EPLAN revision has been completed, the corresponding PDF file may be generated automatically for archiving purposes. Prior to this stage, descriptions of all the amendments may be edited in a convenient spreadsheet format, for easier reviewing. When the machine documentation is forwarded to the customer, the handover status may be recorded; ISO certification requirements are supported in full.

A better overview of the circuit diagram

Work windows for open project pages or for component editing are freely positionable in EPLAN 5.70 – even outside of graphical editing. For example, the component database may be dragged onto a second screen, allowing relevant component and item data to be displayed parallel to graphical editing.
